Use of cookie files and similar technologies

 

  1. The service does not automatically collect any information, except for information contained in cookie files.
  2. Cookie files (‘cookies’) constitute IT data, in particular text files that are stored on the end-device of the Service’s User and intended for the use of websites of the Service. Cookies usually contain the name of the website from which they originate, the storage duration on the end device and a unique number.
  3. The entity placing the Service's cookie files on the end-device of the User and getting access to them is the entity managing the website of the event: The Institute of Plant Protection - National Research Institute, 60-318 Poznań, ul. Władysława Węgorka 20.
  4. Cookie files are used in order to:
    • adjust the content of the websites of the service to preferences of the User and to optimise the use of these websites; in particular, those files allow for recognition of the device of the Service’s User and to display properly the website adjusted to his/her individual needs,
    • create statistics that enable to understand in which manner the Service’s User uses websites, which allows for improvement of their structure and content,
    • maintain the Service's User session (after logging in), thanks to which the User does not have to re-enter his/her user name and password on each subpage of the Service,
    • provide the Users with advertising content more tailored to their interests,
    • carry out advertising and re-marketing campaigns of the Service in external advertising networks, in particular in Google advertising network.
  5. Two basic types of cookie files are used in the framework of the Service: session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are temporary files that are stored on the end-device of the User until logging out, leaving the website or switching off the software (the Internet browser). Persistent cookies are stored on the end-device of the User throughout the period set out in parameters of cookie files or until their removal by the User.
  6. The following cookie files are used in the framework of the Service:
    • “necessary” cookie files, enabling the use of services available in the framework of the Service, e.g. authentication cookie files used for services requiring authentication within the Service,
    • Cookie files serving for ensuring security, e.g. used for detection of abuses in authentication within the Service,
    • “performance” cookie files enabling collection of data concerning the way in which the websites of the Service are used,
    • “functional” cookie files, allowing to save settings selected by the User and to customise the interface of the User, e.g. In terms of selected language or region, from which the User comes, the font size, the appearance of the website, etc.
    • “advertising” cookie files enabling to provide the Users with advertisement more tailored to their interests or to provide them with advertisement on the basis of their previous visits in the Service.
  7. In many cases, the software serving for browsing websites (the Internet browser) allows by default for storage of cookie files on the end-device of the User. The Service's Users can change the settings concerning cookie files at any time. These settings may be changed, in particular, in such a way as to block the automatic handling of cookie files in the settings of the Internet browser or to inform every time of their placing on the end-device of the Service’s User. Detailed information on possibilities and ways of cookie files handling is available in the software (the Internet browser) settings.
  8. The Service operator informs that restrictions on the use of cookie files may affect certain functionalities available on the Service’s websites.
  9. Cookie files are placed on the end-device of the Service’s User, and they can also be used by the following units cooperating with the service operator:
    • statistics systems , in particular Google Analytics by means of which anonymous (i.e. that do not allow for identification of particular persons) statistics of visits on the Service are conducted; see also Google Analytics Privacy Policy,
    • advertising networks, in particular Google advertising network; it is possible to renounce from advertising networks cookie files on Preferences Manager of Google advertisements and on the Network Advertising Initiative.
